Associate Professor Deborah Edwards is Director (Postgraduate Research) in the Business School, University of Technology Sydney. She is a Research Associate of the Business Intelligence & Data Analytics (BIDA) Research Centre.
She has just published, with co-author Associate Professor Carmel Foley, The Power of Conferences, Stories of serendipity, Innovation and Driving Social Change. The Power of Conferences is the latest research collaboration with Business Events Sydney. The book explores the long-term impacts of conferences through the stories of 10 prominent Australians who are synonymous with wonderful societal outcomes. The Power of Conferences demonstrates that some of the most significant global discoveries over the last 50 years have come from unexpected encounters at conferences.
Deborah and Carmel are collaborating with the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) on the Event Case Study Program, an international project that is redefining the value proposition of the global business events industry. Additionally in collaboration with the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) the dynamic team are documenting the legacy opportunities that a venue such as the ICC Sydney can bring to host destinations.
